Romanian disclosure — ASF, BVB, and ESEF
Romanian listed-issuer disclosure is supervised by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF / Autoritatea de Supraveghere Financiară) under the EU Transparency Directive as transposed into Romanian law. Regulated information is filed with the ASF and distributed through the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB / Bursa de Valori București) announcement system. Annual reports must be filed in iXBRL under the EU ESEF mandate alongside the PDF; the ASF implemented the mandate on the standard EU schedule.
The BVB lists approximately 85 equities across its regulated market — the Main Segment and the Premium Tier — alongside bonds and fund units. The BET index (20 large caps) and the broader BET-BK (25 constituents, used as an investment benchmark) are the primary institutional references. Romania was upgraded from frontier to emerging-market status by FTSE Russell in 2020, which has progressively increased international institutional interest in BVB constituents. Fiscal years follow the calendar year universally. Annual reports (rapoarte anuale) land between March and late April; quarterly reports are mandatory for BVB-listed issuers — as in Poland, generating higher periodic-report throughput than the EU minimum. Primary languages are Romanian and English; BET constituents publish in both, while smaller issuers may file in Romanian only. Accounting follows IFRS for all listed consolidated groups.
