Mexican disclosure — CNBV, EMISNET, and the Reporte Anual regime

Mexican listed-issuer disclosure is supervised by the CNBV (Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores) under the Ley del Mercado de Valores and its implementing circulars. All periodic and ad-hoc filings are submitted through EMISNET — the CNBV's electronic filing system — which serves as Mexico's canonical public disclosure repository. Annual disclosure is anchored around the Reporte Anual, a comprehensive form that combines financial statements, governance disclosures, risk factors, and operational description in a single document; it is closely modelled on the US 10-K and the SEDAR AIF in scope and density. Quarterly filings land as the Reporte Trimestral, covering audited-comparable income statements and balance sheets.

Mexico adopted IFRS as the mandatory accounting standard for listed-company consolidated financial statements, enforced through CNBV Circular Única de Emisoras. The disclosure calendar runs on a 31 December fiscal year-end for the great majority of issuers, with the Reporte Anual due by late April and Reportes Trimestrales due within 25 working days of each quarter's end. Ad-hoc disclosure — called Eventos Relevantes (material events) — is filed through EMISNET continuously for price-sensitive announcements: acquisitions, executive changes, dividend declarations, joint-venture agreements, and regulatory decisions affecting operations. FinancialReports indexes Reportes Anuales, Reportes Trimestrales, and Eventos Relevantes within roughly one minute of EMISNET publication.

Filing language is Spanish. English translations are available for a handful of internationally oriented issuers — most systematically from América Móvil, CEMEX, FEMSA, and Grupo Bimbo, which cross-list in the United States or Europe and maintain bilingual investor-relations programmes — but Mexican disclosure is overwhelmingly Spanish-first. The dataset preserves both language versions where present and exposes language metadata on every filing record.

Mexico's listed universe is compact by international standards — approximately 140 issuers on the BMV regulated market, with a smaller cohort on BIVA. That concentration means that the Reporte Anual of a single issuer like América Móvil or FEMSA, with operations spanning 25+ countries, carries outsized informational weight. FinancialReports indexes the full text of each filing as JSON metadata, Markdown body, and original PDF, making the dense narrative and financial-statement content of these reports directly accessible programmatically.
