Taiwanese disclosure — FSC, MOPS, and the semiconductor-supply-chain filing regime
Taiwanese listed-issuer disclosure is regulated by the FSC (Financial Supervisory Commission) and routed through the MOPS system (Market Observation Post System, 公開資訊觀測站), the official mandatory electronic filing and public access portal operated by the Taiwan Stock Exchange. MOPS is the single authoritative source for all regulated Taiwanese corporate disclosures — annual reports, quarterly financial statements, material-information announcements, and ownership-change notifications — covering issuers listed on both the TWSE (Taiwan Stock Exchange) and the TPEx (Taipei Exchange, formerly the OTC market). FinancialReports ingests MOPS-published filings within roughly one minute of publication, classifying by document type and listing venue across both exchanges.
Taiwan adopted TIFRS (Taiwan-adopted IFRS) as the mandatory accounting standard for listed companies in 2013; the convergence with IFRS as issued by the IASB is effectively complete, with the Financial Supervisory Commission maintaining ongoing endorsement of new IASB standards. For the dominant semiconductor and electronics issuers, full IFRS-converged consolidated financials are the norm, simplifying cross-border financial comparison against Japanese, Korean, and European peers. The primary filing language is Mandarin Chinese; English versions of the consolidated annual report and quarterly results are common for the largest TWSE issuers — TSMC publishes among the most complete English-language financial disclosures in Asia — and increasingly available for mid-cap TPEx constituents.
The Taiwanese periodic reporting calendar is built around quarterly financials: financial statements are due 30 days after each quarter-end (one of the tightest mandatory quarterly deadlines among major Asian markets), and the annual report is due within four months of fiscal year-end for TWSE issuers. The December fiscal year-end is near-universal, concentrating the annual-report season heavily in April. Material-information announcements — covering major contracts, capacity expansions, customer concentration changes, and significant ownership movements — flow on a continuous basis through MOPS and represent the live disclosure volume most relevant for event-driven research into the semiconductor supply chain.
Each filing is available as JSON metadata, Markdown body (the same processed text rendered on the public web pages), and original PDF. Language metadata is exposed on every record, enabling downstream pipelines to filter for English-available filings or process both Mandarin and English versions in parallel.
