Japan filings & disclosures.

Every annual, interim and ad-hoc report from 3,897 Japanese listed companies — searchable, structured, free for the web. Same dataset, available via the API.

Public-company filings in Japan are supervised by Financial Services Agency of Japan (FSA). Reporting follows JGAAP / Japan-IFRS / IFRS / US GAAP (issuer choice). Filings are most commonly published in Japanese and English. Major issuers are listed on Nikkei 225, TOPIX and TOPIX Core 30. March year-end common (≈70% of issuers).

Japanese disclosure — FSA, EDINET, TDnet, and the post-TSE reform filing landscape

Japanese listed-issuer disclosure operates across two parallel regulatory channels. The primary statutory document, the Yūka Shōken Hōkoku-sho (annual securities report), is filed with the FSA (Financial Services Agency) through the EDINET electronic disclosure system — XBRL-tagged and publicly accessible, covering consolidated and non-consolidated financials, risk factors, related-party transactions, and internal-control assessments. The live wire runs through TDnet (Timely Disclosure network), operated by JPX (Japan Exchange Group) and the TSE (Tokyo Stock Exchange), and carries the Tanshin (決算短信) — the earnings flash that precedes the full statutory report by weeks — alongside ad-hoc material disclosures, quarterly financial results, and shareholder-meeting notices. FinancialReports ingests both EDINET and TDnet, deduplicates across the two channels, and indexes filings within roughly one minute of publication.

The April 2022 TSE market restructuring reorganised listed companies into three new market segments: Prime (highest liquidity and governance standards, replacing the First Section), Standard (replacing the Second Section and JASDAQ Standard), and Growth (replacing Mothers and JASDAQ Growth). Prime-market issuers are subject to enhanced English disclosure expectations under the TSE's updated Corporate Governance Code, and by mid-2025 a substantial majority publish English summaries of their Tanshin and results materials alongside the full Japanese statutory filing. The JPX Prime 150 index, launched in June 2023 to track the 150 most capital-efficient Prime issuers, has emerged as the key benchmark for foreign institutional allocations.

Accounting standards present more variety than any other major Asian market: approximately 60% of TSE-listed companies report under J-GAAP (Japan GAAP), around 40% have adopted IFRS as of mid-2025 — predominantly the large-cap Prime constituents — and a small cohort of US-cross-listed multinationals (notably a few financial institutions) retain US GAAP. The 31 March fiscal year-end is predominant (~75% of listed companies), concentrating the annual-results season heavily in May and the statutory filing deadline in late June. The dataset preserves J-GAAP, IFRS, and US GAAP filings with the accounting standard tagged on each record.

Filing language is primarily Japanese; English versions of the full statutory report are rare outside the Prime segment. For Prime issuers, English Tanshin summaries and English investor-relations documents are increasingly the norm, and the platform flags language availability on every filing record. The approximately 3,800 TSE-listed companies generate one of the highest aggregate filing volumes in Asia, with the combination of EDINET statutory reports and TDnet ad-hoc announcements creating a deep, dual-channel archive available as JSON metadata, Markdown body, and original PDF or XBRL.
