Finnish disclosure — Finanssivalvonta, Nasdaq Helsinki, and the Nordic reporting framework
Finnish listed-issuer disclosure is supervised by Finanssivalvonta (FIN-FSA), Finland's integrated financial regulator, under the EU Transparency Directive as transposed into the Finnish Securities Markets Act. Annual reports are filed in iXBRL under the EU ESEF mandate alongside the PDF copy, and live regulatory announcements flow through the issuer's approved wire service and are deposited in the FIN-FSA's official storage mechanism.
The Finnish disclosure calendar is dominated by the 31 December fiscal year-end, with annual reports concentrated between late January and early April, ahead of most other European markets. Half-year interim reports follow the EU Transparency Directive timing, and Q1 / Q3 interim management statements are standard across large- and mid-cap Nasdaq Helsinki issuers. Ad-hoc disclosures under MAR Article 17 are filed continuously and form the highest-volume category by count. FinancialReports indexes all four classes within roughly one minute of publication.
Accounting follows IFRS for consolidated group financials (mandatory for all listed issuers), with Finnish GAAP applying to separate-entity accounts. Large-cap issuers publish in Finnish, Swedish, and English simultaneously — a trilingual requirement that reflects the constitutional status of Swedish as Finland's second official language and the international shareholder bases of companies such as Nokia, Kone, Wärtsilä, and Stora Enso. The dataset preserves all language versions where available.
The Finnish market is compact — approximately 150 issuers across the OMX Helsinki 25 (OMXH25) and the broader Nasdaq Helsinki listing tiers — but produces a disproportionate number of globally significant issuers for its size.
