Portuguese disclosure — CMVM, Euronext Lisbon, and the PSI filing cycle
Portuguese listed-issuer disclosure is supervised by the CMVM (Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários) under the EU Transparency Directive and Portuguese implementing legislation. Annual reports are filed in iXBRL under the EU ESEF mandate alongside the traditional PDF. Live regulatory announcements flow through the issuer's distribution provider and are registered in the CMVM's official disclosure database, accessible at cmvm.pt. Euronext Lisbon is the primary listing venue, integrated into the pan-European Euronext group alongside Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, and Milan.
The Portuguese disclosure calendar is anchored to the 31 December fiscal year-end for all major listed groups, with annual reports landing between March and late April and half-year reports arriving in July–September in line with EU Transparency Directive timing. Quarterly trading updates — while not universal — are common among the larger PSI constituents. Ad-hoc disclosures under MAR Article 17, insider-transaction notifications under MAR Article 19, and significant-shareholding notifications under the CMVM's transparency rules form the continuous live stream. Accounting follows IFRS for consolidated financials — mandatory for all regulated-market issuers — and Portuguese GAAP (Sistema de Normalização Contabilística, SNC) for separate-entity financials, producing the dual-set pattern standard across Continental Europe. Filing language is primarily Portuguese, with an English version available for virtually all PSI 20 constituents and the majority of PSI-listed issuers, given the international shareholder base of many listed groups. Both language versions are preserved and indexed with language metadata exposed on every filing record.
The practical result is a structured ESEF-tagged annual archive paired with a continuous ad-hoc disclosure stream — both available as JSON metadata, Markdown body normalised from the original PDF or iXBRL, and the original document. The Markdown rendering is particularly useful for Portuguese content where PDF formatting varies across issuers; the processed text provides a consistent, parseable form ready for NLP pipelines and LLM context windows without a separate extraction step.
