Borsa İstanbul (BIST) hosts approximately 530 listed companies across its main regulated market and the Gelişen İşletmeler Piyasası (GİP) — the Emerging Companies Market for smaller-cap and growth issuers. The institutional-investable universe is structured around three headline indices: the BIST 30 (30 large caps, the most liquid benchmark), the BIST 50 (50 large and mid caps), and the BIST 100 (100 large, mid, and selected small caps). The broader BIST All Share index covers all exchange-listed equities.

The BIST 30 is heavily dominated by financials and industrial holding groups — a structure that reflects the vertical integration of Turkish corporate capital. The major banks — Garanti BBVA, İş Bankası (İşbank), Akbank, Yapı Kredi, and Halkbank — collectively account for a substantial fraction of BIST 30 weight. The two flagship conglomerates, Koç Holding and Sabancı Holding, appear as parent entities and have subsidiaries separately listed across energy, automotive (Ford Otosan, Tofaş), consumer (Migros), and building materials. Energy-related names (Tüpraş, the refining subsidiary of Koç; Türkiye Petrol Rafinerileri) add further weight in the materials and energy segments.
