Repap Enterprises Inc. was a major North American producer of paper and pulp products, specializing primarily in coated groundwood paper, known as Light Weight Coated (LWC) stock. Before its acquisition in 2000, the company accounted for approximately 9% of the total LWC capacity in North America. Repap's operations centered on a large paper mill in eastern New Brunswick, which produced coated groundwood paper, and associated sawmills. The company also manufactured Northern bleached softwood kraft pulp, with a significant portion of this output used internally. Repap was historically recognized for its technological innovation in manufacturing, having developed a demonstration plant for producing wood pulp using an alcohol-based, sulfur-free process. Repap Enterprises Inc. was acquired by the Finnish forestry group UPM-Kymmene Corporation in late 2000.
