PRESS RELEASE
WIIT SUSTAINABILITY BEYOND CLOUD
With the Consolidated Non-Financial Statement 2022, WIIT continues its efforts to develop a business model that is increasingly integrated with ESG issues
At the heart of the ESG strategy is a commitment to stakeholders to improve the impacts of activities and create long-term value
Milan, 29 June 2023 – WIIT S.p.A. ("WIIT" or the "Company"; ISIN: IT0005440893; WIIT.MI), one of the main European players in the Cloud Computing services market for companies focused on the provision of continuous Hybrid Cloud and Hosted Private Cloud services for critical applications, a company listed on the Euronext STAR Milan segment of the Euronext Milan market, organised and managed by Borsa Italiana S.p.A., announces the publication of the 2022 Sustainability Report "Sustainability beyond Cloud".
As of 2022, the WIIT Group falls within the scope of Legislative Decree 254/2016 for the reporting of nonfinancial information, marking a further step on the path of transparency and integration of sustainability in WIIT. Following the publication of three editions of the Sustainability Report under a voluntary regime, the drafting of the first Consolidated Non-Financial Group Statement (DNF) is aimed at highlighting the Group's performance and progress on sustainability issues and at providing stakeholders with an accurate, comprehensive and transparent account of the results achieved.
Falling within the scope of the Non-Financial Reporting Directive has meant that - already from the financial year 2022 - a Disclosure Statement has to be prepared in accordance with the European Regulation 2020/852 on Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance. The aim of the Regulation is to make truly sustainable economic activities identifiable and transparent to consumers and investors. Reporting companies must describe how and to what extent their economic activities are eligible and aligned with the Taxonomy in terms of turnover, CapEx and OpEx.
WIIT's commitment to sustainability is embodied in the Group's ESG Plan 2030, which, defined for the first time in 2020, identifies 18 measurable objectives, setting a 10-year time horizon and setting intermediate targets to 2025. Specifically, WIIT's ESG strategy is structured around 9 material topics identified as priorities through a materiality analysis, a tool that enables the identification of sustainability issues relevant to the company and its stakeholders. The topics have been organised into 4 topic pillars +1, which define the directions of WIIT's ESG commitment and concern respectively: WIIT4Data, data security and resilience; WIIT4Innovation, the promotion of innovation; WIIT4Climate, the protection of the environment; WIIT4People, the management of human resources. Each of these trajectories requires, first of all, what WIIT calls Responsible Governance & Growth: The Premium Cloud.
In 2022, WIIT achieved several milestones:
• The Premium Cloud, in 2022, the materiality analysis was updated according to the guidelines of the GRI Standards 2021, and the results of the application of the Taxonomy were reported.

From the analysis carried out, WIIT was found to be eligible for 2 economic activities for the Information and Communication sector (8.1 Data processing, hosting and related activities and 8.2 Computer programming, consultancy and related activities), partially aligned with the relevant technical criteria: 92% of revenues were found to be eligible, of which 40% aligned; the share of eligible CapEx was 96% and the share aligned was 61.4%, while 78.2% of OpEx were eligible and 37.4% aligned;
- WIIT4Data, in 2022, the Group committed to the harmonisation and integration of the Group Cybersecurity Policy and activated the multi-year Security Awareness plan to equip itself with all the necessary tools to address cyber threats promptly and effectively. WIIT is the Cloud company among the SAP partners with the highest number of Outsourcing Operations certifications, globally with 6 currently;
- WIIT4Innovation, the Group outlined a new Innovation Strategy that looks at trends in automation, business focus and cybersecurity. In addition, the Group participated in Cloudfest, Europe's most relevant event in the Cloud Computing sector, and won the CIOsumm.it Special Award of the Digital360 Awards, with the digital transformation project "Kubernetes on Steroids";
- WIIT4Climate, the direct and indirect CO2eq emissions (Scope 1 and 2) and the energy (MWh/Petabyte) and emission intensity (ton CO2eq/ Petabyte) of the Group's activities were calculated. As far as data storage is concerned, WIIT has increased its internal capacity by +105% in 2022, resulting in estimated energy savings for its customers of 1,548 MWh/year thanks to the Group's services;
- WIIT4People, in light of the Group's continued expansion, in 2022, the Company committed to building a strong organisational culture, through initiatives such as the Cultural Meter, the Qualification Matrix and the Jop Path update. In addition, the Group continued to invest in people training, providing an average of about 30 hours of training per employee.
This year, WIIT continued its annual assessment of its sustainability performance, taking part in several assessments by the leading international ESG rating agencies with some interesting new features. Now in its 3rd consecutive year of collaboration with Sustainalytics (Morningstar), the final assessment showed that, in continuity with last year, thanks to the solid management of priority sustainability issues, WIIT has a low ESG risk profile, distinguishing itself for high performance in the area of corporate governance, receiving a rating of 16.0, corresponding to an ESG Risk "Low". In 2022, WIIT was again subjected to an assessment process by Gaïa Research, a French company of the EthiFinance Group. According to the results, WIIT improved its ESG performance by achieving an overall score of 71/100, an impressive 14 points above its 2019 result, and 23 points above the IT sector average. Specifically, in 2021, the score resulting from the assessment was 62/100, and in 2020, 57/100. Last but not least, in 2022, WIIT was invited to participate in the more complex and authoritative Corporate Sustainability Assessment by Standard and Poor's (S&P). The result was 35/100, an improvement of +12 compared to the 2021 unsolicited assessment. Although in absolute terms the result may not seem promising, following an analysis of industry benchmarks, WIIT ranks a good 11 points above the industry average.
"We intend to continue on our path of corporate expansion with a focus on directing resources towards the creation of a solid and integrated Group, capable of establishing itself as a leader in Cloud services at a European level and, at the same time, in managing the impacts related to the most relevant ESG issues for the business and our stakeholders." As stated by Alessandro Cozzi, CEO of WIIT, "Since 2020, WIIT's priority has been to deliver on its commitment through the progressive achievement of the 18 goals of the ESG Plan 2030 which, in line with the UN SDGs, outline our current and future development path."
