Standard Radio Inc. was a major Canadian radio broadcasting conglomerate and, prior to 2007, one of the largest privately owned multimedia companies in the country. Its core business involved the operation of numerous radio programming undertakings, holding licenses for 51 stations and related transmitters across key markets. The company also administered ancillary services, including the Standard Broadcast News Service and the Canadian Talent Library, which focused on music publishing and talent development. Standard Radio Inc. ceased independent operations in 2007 when it was acquired by Astral Media for $1.08 billion, a transaction that consolidated its assets and created the largest radio broadcaster in the market at the time.
