Solar Foods is a food technology company that produces a novel single-cell protein named Solein®. The company's proprietary bioprocess uses a natural microorganism, grown through fermentation with electricity and carbon dioxide from the air as its primary raw materials. This technology decouples protein production from the constraints of traditional agriculture, such as land use and water consumption. Solein® is a nutritionally rich, all-purpose protein ingredient designed for the global food industry to be incorporated into a wide variety of food products. It serves as a sustainable alternative to conventional plant- and animal-based proteins. The company commenced commercial-scale production at its first facility in 2024.
