The Catalana Occidente Group is one of Spain’s largest insurance groups. The Catalana Occidente Group’s foundations were laid in 1864 when Fernando de Delás y de Gelpi set up Sociedad Catalana de Seguros Contra Incendios a Prima Fija (the Catalana Fixed Premium Fire Insurance Company), popularly known as La Catalana It had a total of eight employees.

At the end of 2021, it ranked fifth in the Spanish market and second worldwide in credit insurance.
