The company was a significant operator within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. CenAlta ceased independent operations in 2000 when it was acquired by Precision Drilling Corporation. At the time of the acquisition, CenAlta was noted as one of the largest service rig operators in the region, and the transaction substantially increased the acquiring entity's fleet size and diversification in well servicing operations.
