The following is a Company Announcement issued by MAPFRE Middlesea plc, pursuant to the Listing Rules of the Malta Financial Services Authority.

MAPFRE Middlesea plc, have been informed by their institutional shareholder, namely MAPFRE Internacional, that they will be nominating and appointing Mr Jaime Tamayo as a Non Executive Director on the Board of Directors of MAPFRE Middlesea plc in lieu of Mr Javier Fernández-Cid, who retires as MAPFRE Executive, with effect from the 1 January 2017. The said appointment is subject to regulatory clearance and approval by the Malta Financial Services Authority.

Mr Tamayo holds a degree in Law from the Universidad San Pablo CEU in Madrid and is employed with MAPFRE USA CORP since 2008 as President & CEO. He was previously the President & CEO of MAPFRE Florida since 2001. His position, as from the 1 January 2017, will be as CEO International of MAPFRE and member of its Executive Committee.

There is no other matter concerning Mr Tamayo that requires disclosure in terms of the Listing Rules.

The Board of Directors would like to thank Mr Fernandez-Cid for his contribution and guidance to the MAPFRE Middlesea Group during his tenure as a Director of the Board, over the past years.
