COFINIMMO IS BUILDING A NEW NURSING HOME IN EVERE
A "topping-out" ceremony marking the completion of the structural works took place this Wednesday, 30.04.2014 on the site of the future nursing home Résidence Dunant, located at rue Willy Van Der Meeren - avenue Cicéron in Evere, in the presence of Mr. Pierre Muylle, Acting Mayor and Mrs. Martine Raets, Deputy Mayor for Employment in the municipality of Evere.
As part of the redevelopment of the former Vishay industrial site into a multifunctional complex, Cofinimmo acquired in April 2012 two parcels of the plot of a total surface area of 2,500m² to build a nursing home for the accommodation of elderly people. Works began in July 2013 and will be completed in the last quarter of 2014. The building will offer 8,700m² above ground and will accommodate a total of 162 residents. The cost of the works will amount to €11 million, excluding VAT and fees.
The project contributes to the creation of a new urban district of excellent architectural and urban coherence.
Cofinimmo is building a new nursing home based on criteria of quality and sustainability to fully meet its environmental policy. It has opted for an overall level of thermal insulation K27, which is better than the K regulatory level (K40). The building will also include 1,300m² of green roofing and will be equipped with a dual-flow ventilation system.
To build the home, Cofinimmo as project owner contracted the company FCD to perform the project management and appointed CIT Blaton as the general contractor. The building has been designed by the architectural firm A2RC, which also designed the other buildings on the plot. The engineering offices CES, ATS and Van Ransbeeck have respectively been selected for special techniques, acoustics and stability. Socotec has been given the task of coordinating site safety.
To operate the home, a long lease of 27 years has been signed with the company Armonea, a specialised operator that has been a partner of Cofinimmo for several years and leases around 26 of its nursing homes in Belgium.
