COFINIMMO LAUNCHES THE REDEVELOPMENT WORKS OF THE BELLIARD 40 OFFICE BUILDING (BRUSSELS CBD)
Cofinimmo's Board of Directors decided to start the demolition and reconstruction works of the Belliard 40 office building, located at the corner of the rue de la Science/Wetenschapstraat and the rue Belliard/Belliardstraat, in the heart of Brussels' Leopold district.
As a reminder, Cofinimmo recently obtained the permits required for this new project. The construction of this flagship building, conceived in line with the gradual transformation of the rue Belliard/Belliardstraat, will maximise the comfort and the space efficiency for its occupants. The project namely includes the creation of a plaza and a green space next to the pavement, and the construction of a luminous five-storey atrium. The interior garden behind the building will be visible from the street. The site will offer over 17,000m² of modern, flexible and sustainable offices. The project received the "2011 Exemplary Building" prize from the Brussels Environment Administration (Institut Bruxellois pour la Gestion de l'Environnement/Brussels Instituut voor Milieubeheer).
Cofinimmo currently operates 155,000m² of offices in the Leopold district, of which 99% are occupied. By launching the redevelopment works of this site, Cofinimmo seeks to meet the demand of occupants for this type of building in Brussels' European district over the horizon 2017.
Practically, the demolition works will start in February 2015. The new building should be completed and functional by the second quarter of 2017. Marketing is already underway.
A screen representing the new project has been placed along the rue Belliard/Belliardstraat, at the place of the future construction site.
