APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER

The Directors of Biotron Limited (‘Biotron’) are pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen L. Becker, M.D. to the role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Dr Becker brings to Biotron over 30 years’ experience as a clinician, researcher and product development executive with focus on the therapeutic areas of HIV, infectious diseases and immunology. Dr Becker undertook his medical training at the State University of New York at Buffalo and spent much of his career at the University of California, School of Medicine, San Francisco (UCSF) before transitioning to medical leadership roles in the USA and Canadian biotech industry. He also spent 6 years as Deputy Director in HIV at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Dr Becker’s connections with pharmaceutical companies, US government organisations, philanthropic organisations, as well as his knowledge of regulatory and policy issues relating to development and approvals of new drugs bring essential skills at this critical stage of the company’s development.

“We welcome Dr Becker, and we are delighted to have someone of his calibre to advise the Company as it moves into the next critical stage of development of our lead HIV-1 drug, BIT225,” said Biotron’s Managing Director, Michelle Miller.

Dr Becker is based in the USA and will be retained under a part-time consultancy.
