THE UNITE GROUP PLC (the "Company")

Transfer of Shares to Spouse

The Company announces that it received notification on 17 March 2014 of the transfer by Mark Allan (Chief Executive of the Company) of 135,000 ordinary shares of 25 pence each into the name of his wife Joanna Elisabeth Alexandra Hellen for nil consideration.

Following the transfer, Mark Allan's total beneficial holding of shares in the Company (including shares held in his wife's name) remains the same at 429,397 shares representing approximately 0.24% of the total issued shares in the Company.
