Uninor secures additional spectrum in India
Uninor secures additional spectrum in India
Telenor Group confirms that its subsidiary in
India,
Telewings Communications Services Private Ltd
(Uninor), has won spectrum in the 1800 MHz
auction.
Uninor has won additional spectrum in Andhra
Pradesh,
Bihar, UP East and UP West, as well as spectrum
in
Assam. The total price paid for the new spectrum
is
INR 8,447 million.
With the additional spectrum, Uninor has secured
a
competitive cost base in the strong performing
Hindi
belt and Andhra Pradesh. Telenor believes the
Uninor
business model is well suited for a successful
operation in Assam, which has a population of
around
31 million.
Spectrum acquired by Uninor in the 1800 MHz
band:
- Andhra Pradesh: 1.4 MHz, INR 2,282 million
- Bihar: 2.2 MHz, INR 948 million
- Uttar Pradesh (East): 1.8 MHz, INR 1,152
million
- Uttar Pradesh (West): 2.0 MHz, INR 1,899
million
- Assam: 6.0 MHz, INR 2,166 million
