Telstra to provide HSC technology to Anglicare

29 March 2021

  • End-to-end solution provided by Telstra utilising the HSC technology suite to replace over 2,000 personal alarm systems for Anglicare

  • Agreement through Telstra’s national business customer network increases HSC’s sales channels

HSC Technology Group Ltd (ASX:HSC) is pleased to announce it has been awarded the contract to supply the next generation assistive technology solutions to Anglicare's Retirement Living division in NSW.

After a comprehensive tender process with technical, service and delivery due diligence, Anglicare identified the significant benefits of working with Telstra on this technology change for replacing the outdated existing communications technology for the HSC technology suite. This will ensure a future proof “Ageing in Place” platform that addresses key technology recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.

Anglicare has supported the Greater Sydney and Illawarra areas for a combined 200 years, being one of the largest and purpose-driven not-for-profit organisations serving the needs of the elderly and disadvantaged in our community. Anglicare owns and manages over 24 retirement villages and places great emphasis upon providing safety, security and home maintenance, enabling their residents to live the life they have always enjoyed and so much more. Anglicare retirement communities offer a range of facilities and services to enhance people’s wellbeing and help keep residents active and social.

Managing Director of HSC Technology Group, Graham Russell, said he was excited to be working with Telstra and Sapio, a HSC Platinum Partner, to upgrade the Anglicare PERS with the next generation of HSC assistive technology platform.

“This IoT partnership is significant because it delivers two key growth outcomes for HSC and the PERS marketplace in Australia. Firstly, recognition that the current telecommunications technology needs to be upgraded. Secondly, it delivers assistive technology benefits that have been recommended in the Royal Commission into Aged Care. HSC expects substantial growth in its licence revenues as a result of this partnership, based on a 40 per cent increase in subscriber volumes which will flow from the agreement.

“We have all invested a lot of time and effort to build a business model that provides a favourable outcome for all parties, and we are very excited to be selected by Anglicare. They saw our vision of how technology can truly empower and assist people in staying safe and independent as long as possible.”

Mr Jacob Squillacioti, Anglicare General Manager for Retirement Living, said, after an extensive tender, they were delighted to partner with Telstra, Sapio and HSC.

“We saw numerous advantages for our residents with the HSC solution. The way the system can grow with a resident as their needs changed was particularly attractive as it will allow us to increase the level of care and safety so as to provide an enhanced environment for them in our villages allowing residents to retain their independence as long as possible, thereby enabling them to continue to live and enjoy life at Anglicare,” he said.

Sapio is one of Australia's largest 24Hr Emergency Response providers. Sapio will be providing installation, support and 24hr monitoring and response services for Anglicare on an ongoing basis.

Sapio General Manager of Customer and Monitoring, Julieanne Pritchett, said “Sapio exists to deliver activated solutions for our customers”.

We are partnering with our customers to provide an end-to-end delivery that enables seniors to live safely and independently with the comfort and knowledge we are here 24hrs if required.”

The terms of the partnership include the supply, installation, and ongoing monitoring for the replacement of all the existing PERS (Personal Emergency Response Systems) in the NSW Anglicare Retirement Living Villages, totalling 2,300 units at the announcement date.

The installation works will commence immediately, with the first village being upgraded in the coming weeks, and future upgrades will continue throughout the year.

This announcement has been authorised by the Board of Directors of HSC Technology Group Ltd.
