Notice under section 708A(5)(e) of the Corporations Act

Suncorp-Metway Limited ( Suncorp ) has today issued 86,666,667 ordinary shares ( Placement Shares ) in connection with its institutional placement of shares as announced to the market on 5 February 2009.

Suncorp gives notice under paragraph (5)(e) of section 708A of the Corporations Act 2001 ( Act ) that:

• 1 Suncorp issued the Placement Shares without disclosure under Part 6D.2 of the Act;

• 2 as at the date of this notice Suncorp has complied with:

• (a) the provisions of Chapter 2M of the Act (as applicable to Suncorp); and

• (b) section 674 of the Act; and

• 3 as at the date of this notice there is no excluded information (as defined in section 708A(7) of the Act) which is required to be disclosed by Suncorp.
