Simon Machell appointed to Suncorp Board

The Board of Suncorp Group Limited (Suncorp) has announced the appointment of Simon Machell as a nonexecutive director effective today.

Mr Machell fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Mr Geoff Ricketts in September 2016.

Chairman Dr Ziggy Switkowski welcomed Mr Machell and said: “Simon has extensive experience, as both an executive and a non-executive director of insurance businesses and the broader financial services sector in Australia and overseas.

“Additionally, he brings insights into emerging technologies and new business models.”

Mr Machell has close to 30 years’ experience in general and life insurance businesses across the UK, Europe and Asia, including senior executive roles at Aviva and Norwich Union and, for a time, oversight of their Australian businesses.
