Lindsay Tanner appointed to Suncorp Board

The Board of Suncorp Group Limited (Suncorp) has announced the appointment of Lindsay Tanner as a nonexecutive director effective from 1 January 2018.

Mr Tanner fills one of the vacancies created by the retirement of Bill Bartlett and Ewoud Kulk after the Suncorp AGM in September.

Chairman Dr Ziggy Switkowski welcomed Mr Tanner, saying “Lindsay brings a wide range of relevant public and private sector experience in financial services with an acute appreciation of the technological, regulatory and political changes shaping the industry.”

Mr Tanner’s professional career began as a personal injuries lawyer, and as Minister for Finance in the Rudd and Gillard governments, he was responsible for procurement, IT, property, superannuation and compliance.

Since leaving Parliament more than seven years ago, Mr Tanner has built a diverse portfolio of business roles, including involvement in mergers and acquisitions advisory, fintech, life insurance and cyber security businesses.
