JOHN NESBITT APPOINTED GROUP CFO
Suncorp today announced John Nesbitt has been appointed as the Group’s chief financial officer.
Mr Nesbitt has built an extensive career as a finance executive across a range of industries including financial services, construction and consulting. He is currently the group executive for private wealth at Perpetual Limited and was previously group CFO for that company.
Suncorp CEO Patrick Snowball said Mr Nesbitt’s ability to drive financial strategy would be crucial to his role at Suncorp.
“The Board and I wanted a CFO who could contribute to the development of the Group’s strategy and drive its implementation, as well as offering the appropriate financial and reporting background,” he said.
“I am delighted to have secured someone of John’s experience who has consistently demonstrated the prerequisite blend of skills throughout a successful career at Perpetual and Lend Lease where he has held executive finance positions as well as business unit leadership roles.”
Mr Nesbitt said he looked forward to his new role.
“I look forward to being part of Suncorp’s executive leadership team through its rebuilding phase, as well as helping develop the capabilities of the Group’s finance functions,” he said.
Mr Snowball also acknowledged the outstanding contribution made by acting CFO Clayton Herbert during an extremely difficult period. Mr Herbert will remain acting CFO until Mr Nesbitt starts at Suncorp in the first half of 2010.
As group CFO, Mr Nesbitt will lead the Group’s finance function, and have responsibility for strategy, tax, and all management and external reporting.
