CHIEF RISK OFFICER APPOINTED

Group chief executive officer Patrick Snowball has finalised his senior executive team following the appointment of Robert Stribling as Suncorp’s chief risk officer.

Mr Stribling has worked in many different areas of financial services risk management for over 30 years, having held senior executive roles in the United States, Europe and Asia, and with National Australia Bank, Commonwealth Bank and ANZ in Australia.

Mr Snowball said Mr Stribling’s appointment to his senior executive team would ensure risk management remained a key focus at the forefront of the Group’s operations.

“The global financial crisis has reinforced the importance of effective risk management frameworks underpinning the activities of all organisations, particularly financial services companies,” Mr Snowball said.

“Bob will be a vital member of my senior leadership team and will work closely with the chief executives of each of our businesses to ensure they continue to have appropriate risk management structures in place.”

Mr Stribling, who will join Suncorp in early January 2010, said he looked forward to joining the Group.

“Suncorp is very focused on the importance of effective risk management, and I look forward to working with business leaders to ensure continuity of a positive risk culture and a balanced approach to the risk/reward trade-off in all business decisions,” he said.

Mr Snowball thanked acting CRO Andrew Harmer for his significant contribution since being seconded to the role from Ernst & Young Australia in April 2009.
