ASX Release – Company Announcement

29 December 2021

Almond Hull and Shell (Co-waste) Fire

On 26 December 2021, Select Harvests’ Managing Director, Paul Thompson, advised that the company’s Carina West site experienced a fire event in its co-waste handling area. Co-waste is low value bi-product that results from the hulling and shelling process of almonds.

There have been no injuries to any personnel. The full extent of the damage to the site and the related operational impact is currently being assessed. At this stage there appears to be smoke and water damage impacting some site buildings, materials handling equipment and work in progress inventory. The company’s primary production and value-adding processing areas and related equipment at the site have not been directly affected.

The fire has been contained and confined to the co-waste material and continues to be managed.

Based on the current assessment, Select Harvests expects to be able to undertake its almond receiving and processing activities following the commencement of harvest in February 2022.

Warehousing, distribution and value add processing is expected to commence early in the new year as planned.

Select Harvests maintains an Industrial Special Risks Policy covering its physical assets (including inventory) against fire, with a policy limit sufficient for management’s preliminary assessments of the likely extent of property loss. Additionally, the policy also provides coverage for business interruption losses. Select Harvests intends to submit a claim under the policy for the entirety of its property and related business interruption losses (other than the $1.0 million retention).

This announcement has been approved by the Board of Select Harvests.
