Commercial Waste Treatment Contract for Burnie Plant

Intec Ltd (ASX code: INL) is pleased to announce that it has signed a second agreement with the Automotive Components Limited Group (ACL, see www.acl.com.au) to utilise the Burnie Research Facility to treat on a commercial basis approximately 31,000 kilograms of heavy metal-bearing filter cake from ACL’s plant in Launceston, Tasmania.

This agreement follows Intec’s successful completion of its current commercial contract whereby Intec’s specialised reagents and technology have been applied for the environmentally and economically superior recovery of heavy metals from ACL’s liquid and sludge waste feedstocks. During the first half of 2009, Intec has completed the recycling of approximately 75,000 kilograms of ACL sludge, producing approximately 25,000 kg of mineral product for return to the minerals processing industry.

Intec’s environmental operation achieves a greatly improved environmental and economic outcome compared to the hitherto common landfill disposal methods for heavy metal waste streams, and has been recognised for two separate environmental awards in Australia. The Burnie recycling operation was ‘runner-up’ for the Small Business Sustainability category of the Tasmanian Awards for Environmental Excellence, and is a finalist for the Eco Innovation category of the prestigious Banksia Environmental Awards, to be announced on 24 July 2009 (see www.banksiafdn.com.au).

Intec is continuing to pursue and develop additional recycling opportunities for its Tasmanian operations. This commercial operation is indicative of both the multiple uses for Intec’s high-quality Burnie Research Facility and how the company’s Tasmanian operations continue to support to Intec’s broader project development and environmental engineering activities.

Yours faithfully Intec Ltd
