Appointment of Project Director to Drive Growth
SciDev Ltd (ASX: SDV) (‘SciDev’ or ‘the Company’) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mr Lewis Utting as a full-time Project Director to lead the Company’s international expansion opportunities and drive additional revenue growth.
Lewis has over 15 years experience in the water treatment, mining and chemical industries. He began his career with a leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals, Buckman, in 2001 servicing the paper and water treatment industries. Following his time at Buckman, Lewis undertook a Senior Sales Engineer role with Hercules Chemicals Australia focussing on the paper sector. Following this Lewis moved to Ciba, who were subsequently acquired by BASF, the world’s largest chemical company by sales. Lewis progressed through BASF starting as an Account Manager and finally becoming the Global Project Manager and Global Business Development Manager for the Mining Solutions business. Following twelve years with BASF, Lewis began his own consultancy firm, Utting & Associates Pty Ltd, which focuses on improving water recovery and waste disposal across many industries.
Lewis’ role with the Company will be primarily focused on driving revenue growth through the Company’s existing client base, as well as seeking new business throughout the Australian mining, dairy, paper and water treatment industries. Lewis will work closely with SciDev’s MOU partners, Phoenix Processing Equipment Company and The Seydel Companies Inc., to progress the North American market entry strategy and will also seek to identify additional international licencing opportunities across multiple sectors.
Managing Director, Kieran Rodgers, said: “We are pleased to welcome someone of Lewis’ calibre to the Company. Lewis’ experience and knowledge of chemical sales, as well as his global network across several industries will add significant value to the Company.”
Newly appointed Project Director, Lewis Utting, added: “The Company is well placed with technology to capitalise on the market drivers as they relate to environmental regulation, scarcity of water, and the need to process lower grade ores. Specifically, in mining, the OptiFlox® technology helps to solve a key challenge in dealing with clay type materials which present problems in the processing of coal, mineral sands, iron ore, lithium, kimberlites, phosphates, gold, kaolin and many others. The Company’s recent MOU’s with both Phoenix and Seydel have set a solid foundation for potential growth in North America and I look forward to progressing these and other opportunities to drive shareholder value across the coming months.”
