17 March 2017 Announcement no. 252
Following a thorough definition phase, Rovsing A/S and ESA/ESTEC have signed a contract that entrusts Rovsing with the development of generic high-level EGSE control software compatible with ESA's future generation of ground segment software environment, the "European Ground Segment Common Core", which is going to be used by ESA itself, ground stations, mission control centres, and satellite primes.
Rovsing will concentrate on software for controlling satellite testing systems such as special checkout equipment for subsystems or digital and analogue satellite simulations and testing equipment.
"The outcome of this project will enable Rovsing to adapt and improve its own software suite in coherence with the future ESA standard ground software environment", explains Jesper Troelsen, Rovsing's Head of Software Development and designated Project Manager.
"This activity ties Rovsing into a very important network of companies paving the way towards a European ground segment standard", adds Cristian Bank, Rovsing's CEO.
The activity has a total volume of some 524 K€ (ca. 3.9 MDKK), where Rovsing invests 25% as R&D contribution, while 75% (Turnover Rovsing A/S) are financed by ESA. The initiative was strongly backed by the Division for Space of the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
