15% more exhibitors and 10% more visitors at the world largest fair for
optoelectronics in China

From September 6-9, 2008, the 10th edition of the by now most important
exhibition for optoelectronics CIOE (China International Optoelectronics
Exposition) took place in the Shenzhen Exhibition Center in China. The
exhibition set new records in all respects.

Stuttgart/Beijing, September 15, 2008 – Organized by BMC Herong, a
subsidiary of Business Media China AG, the specialized exhibition for
optoelectronics was able to increase its exhibition space by almost 18 %
compared to last year's edition. This equals 3 of the Shenzhen Exhibition
Center's halls with a total of 65,000 square meters. 2,173 companies
presented their products at the trade fair – that corresponds to an
increase of 15 % to last year. More than half of these represented
international companies and brands like JDSU, Olympus, SENKO, Schott,
Panasonic and other market leaders. Total visitors over the 4 days were
85,000 which is 10% up against last year.

The latest developments in the fields of laser, optical communications,
optics and LED applied optoelectronic solutions were presented. Alongside
the exhibition a highly regarded conference program of 3 days was
organised, which covered as well scientific as more practical topics. The
exhibition and the conference program were supported by all important
universities and governmental institutions in the optoelectronics field in
China, such as: China Association for Science and Technology, Academy of
Opto-Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Optical Society,
China Electronic Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Science and Technology
and Ministry of Information Industry. Representatives of Canada and France
as well as a visitor delegation from Great Britain underlined besides the
international requirement of the event.

Eike Scholl, General Manager Exhibitions & Conferences of Business Media
China AG, expressed his satisfaction: 'With the development of CIOE this
year, we were able to enhance our position as the number one event for the
Optoelectronics Industry in China and worldwide. For the next year, we
expect that the exhibition will show robust growth again. Besides we will
continue to develop the international character of the fair.'
