SubZero granted road permit, providing cost saving opportunities for customers

Muswellbrook Shire Council has had in place a ban on all mining equipment and machinery movements by road along and across Thomas Mitchell Drive, located in the Muswellbrook Industrial Estate. The ban restricted mining companies and mining service providers to use of Thomas Mitchell Drive with expensive police escorted float movements. The ban was a result of ongoing damage caused to Muswellbrook Shire Council roads by frequent movements of mining equipment and machinery.

SubZero Group Limited (SZG) has worked closely with the Muswellbrook Shire Council and have been granted permission to transport equipment and machinery, in particular super class trucks, along and across Thomas Mitchell Drive. At this time, SZG is the only business within the Muswellbrook Industrial Estate with such an agreement.

The road access will allow SZG’s customers to transport their equipment for maintenance and refurbishment to SZG’s new facilities without having to use police escorts and heavy haulage floats, resulting in significant cost savings.

SZG’s new facility on Thomas Mitchell Drive has a hectare of undercover workshop space, with total capacity to house 11 dragline buckets and 18 super class trucks and has 150 tonne total crane capacity. This volume and lifting capacity provides an ideal, climate controlled workshop space for machinery rebuilds and refurbishments. The road permit offers SZG’s stakeholders improved access and the opportunity to maintain equipment at reduced costs.
