Company Announcements Office Australian Stock Exchange Ltd Sydney
Dear Sirs
RE: Chairman's Review at the Annual General Meeting of Medical Monitors Limited $($ ASX: MDM $)$
The following is a copy of the Chairman's review to be presented at the Annual General Meeting today, 28 November, 2003.
Dr Allan Shell Managing Director
Chairman's Review - Medical Monitors Ltd - AGM, 28 November, 2003
Over the past year, the Company's sales and marketing activities have continued to create significant business opportunities for Medical Monitors' products and services in the international market. In particular, it has sold its products and services into ethical monitoring programmes supported by a number of the world's top tier international pharmaceutical companies in Australia, in the UK and in the USA.
Most significant has been the UK, where a nation-wide blood pressure programme, using Medical Monitors BPfone™ monitoring programme, is evolving under the direction of Prof Bryan Williams, a world authority in blood pressure management. A most recent ASX release provided details the "Letter of Intent", from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals (UK), to provide financial sponsorship and sales and marketing support for this programme in 2004. It is anticipated that at least two top tier international pharmaceutical companies will be involved in this major programme $-$ a programme that will improve the health management outcomes for many of the 10 million people with a blood pressure problem in the UK.
Revenue from the activities in the UK alone is expected to generate in excess of £1 million ($2.4 million). Anticipated progressive sales revenue could amount to more than $5 million from all activities, over the next 12 months, if current opportunities are successfully concluded.
A review of the Company activities over the year highlights the significant sales opportunities that the Company has in progress both in Australia and overseas:
-
US-based pharmaceutical company Biovail Pharmaceuticals with its hypertension study, using the BPfone™ monitor and service, to evaluate their blood pressure drug in the USA.
-
Home health care opportunities exist in the USA to utilise the BPfoneTM and Medical Monitors' ECG monitor, the PER, in high level health prevention programmes. Both of these products have received FDA approval to be sold and marketed into the USA health care market – another significant accolade for this Company
-
Importantly, the FDA approval in the USA for the PER provides further opportunity to sell and market into a USD$100 million plus market
-
In the UK, Professor Bryan Williams, a leading British and international hypertension specialist, is involved in a collaborative with Medical Monitors, through e-Medicine Services to launch the world's largest hypertension (high blood pressure) program in the United Kingdom, based on the BPfoneTM and monitoring service.
-
In Italy, the Telesalute Monitoring Service continues to grow its operation $\blacksquare$ with the BPfone™. Representative of the service, together with Medical Monitors executives have been in discussion with top-tier pharmaceutical companies, to utilise the Medical Monitors' blood pressure management programme in Italy.
The Directors are very confident of the continuing success for the Company's products and services into the future. The increasing sales revenues over the coming months, anticipated from these business activities, will provide a sound base for the Company to expand its current sales and marketing programmes in Australia and overseas.
The Directors look forward to continuing success for the Company in 2004.
Dr J Goldberg Chariman
