"PressPlay is thrilled to announce our partnership with SmartTrans, their company infrastructure, market knowledge and excitement for the project made it a very simple decision for PressPlay and our talent." said Samuel Pearton, the founder and CEO of PressPlay.
PressPlay is launching in China with Steph Curry due to the basketballer’s huge popularity there. This was demonstrated when his major sponsor, US sporting apparel maker Under Armour (UA), enjoyed its first ever US$1 million online revenue day in China after Curry’s first visit to the country¹.
This was followed by UA earning more in the first 90 days of 2016 in China than it had for the whole of 2014 there. Offering potential synergies for SmartTrans, UA is particularly focused on the e- commerce sector in China and largely attributes this region (driven by Curry’s popularity) to the 157% year-to-date e-commerce revenue growth it reported for Q2 2016[2] .
SmartTrans Managing Director Bryan Carr said: “The Steph Curry phenomenon in China presents a great opportunity for SmartTrans, PressPlay and importantly, Steph Curry himself. The partnership with PressPlay offers immediate and future growth opportunities and is another solid endorsement of our technology and a further example of an international company using SmartTrans as a gateway to China.”
“We are assessing further sales and distribution opportunities with PressPlay and its partners through our mobile billing and e-commerce channels.”
Mr Carr added that while SMA continues to focus on the growth and development of its direct carrier billing operations, significant emphasis is now being placed on scaling up its higher margin e-commerce platform.
The Company expects to provide further updates to shareholders as its e-commerce initiatives, which have been established in the past few months, progress. The Company also expects to shortly update shareholders on the progress of its lotteries billing initiative announced earlier in the year. Progress here has also been encouraging.
