SmartTrans – New Strategic Chinese Investor

SmartTrans is in the process of making a placement to a strategic Chinese investor to raise $1,057,510. Under the arrangement, SmartTrans will issue 211,052,169 shares at 0.5c each.

SmartTrans sees this as a further strengthening of its Chinese presence and business alliances with the two parties jointly planning for the expansion of SmartTrans’ operations in China focussing on the marketing and delivery of its suite of mobile telephone applications and mobile lottery services. The SmartTrans portal, with integrated payment services, allows consumers to pay for applications, content and services and to purchase and receive lottery tickets using their mobile telephone or to directly access the content from its websites.

In support of this new investment, Mr Ian Tang will join the SmartTrans board bringing a wealth of China business experience and expertise.

Mr Tang, who is based in Beijing, will work closely with the SmartTrans team in growing its business in China. “It is my honour to join the SmartTrans Board. I will do my best to facilitate the company’s growth and prosperity as well as to serve the shareholders.” Mr Tang stated.

Mr Tang, who was born in China, grew up in Hong Kong and studied in Australia, has successfully combined his heritage and his adopted culture to extensively aid entrepreneurs and business owners in gaining access to markets in China and Australia with a specific focus on IT and telecommunications.

Mr Tang is the CEO of Beijing AustChina Technology, the Chairman of 123 AustChina Education Consultancy and a Board Director of the China-Australia Chamber of Commerce (AustCham Beijing).

SmartTrans’ Chairman Dr Geoff Raby welcomed the new strategic investment and the addition of Mr Tang to the Board. “This will strengthen SmartTrans’ position in the Chinese market place - Mr Tang’s presence on the Board will enhance SmartTrans’ business connections in China. SmartTrans is committed to the Chinese market and intends to grow the business by realising the tremendous opportunities that exist in China in the mobile and Internet space.”

With a well-established Chinese partner investing in its business, SmartTrans will be seeking to grow its mobile software, Internet and mobile billing and online lottery business in China.
