ASX ANNOUNCEMENT
China Update
SmartTrans is in the course of making a small placement of up to 9,999,997 shares at 1.7c each as part of arrangements with key suppliers linked to SmartTrans’ China projects and provides the following update of its activities in China in advance of making that placement.
SmartTrans has achieved a number of milestones in the implementation of its technology in China, finalising important software distribution agreements and completing significant hardware and software development with its partners.
SmartTrans is working closely with partner, Yamei Electronics, to launch a range of products suitable for the automotive and automotive service industry with solutions developed which incorporate GPS Tracking, Personal Navigation and electronic Proof of Delivery which SmartTrans expects to appeal to China’s large automotive market.
SmartTrans has released an updated version of its mobile telephone software, a sophisticated software management system for the distribution of applications and other digital content including games, animation, music and other multimedia.
SmartTrans plans to launch its easy-to-use software in China with a strong portfolio of applications and content including popular entertainment media provided by a well established media agency and a range of applications such as SonarLogic’s GreenTrac product, IMapps’ EventWeather and MoonRoom horoscope and music application and the well known poker tournament application of WPT ASIA Limited amongst others.
The MOU signed between China Mobile Shanxi Company Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of China Mobile) and SmartTrans on 20 January 2010 refers specifically to the implementation of the SmartTrans AMP MyLife product to service the 19 million (source: http://tmt.interfaxchina.com/news/2176) subscribers to China Mobile Shanxi Company Limited but the negotiations between SmartTrans and China Mobile under the MOU are proceeding upon the basis that the product will in fact be made available to all China Mobile subscribers.
The SmartTrans platform, proposed to be launched with China Mobile Shanxi Company Limited, will also encourage the uptake and use of China’s growing 3G network, consistent with the objective of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to have 150 million 3G subscribers by 2011.
