SmartTrans Signs Project Licence Agreement with Chinese GPS Manufacturer
SmartTrans through its 95% owned subsidiary, SmartTrans Ltd, has entered into a Project Licence Agreement for a minimum of three years with Yamei Electronics Company Limited, a GPS hardware manufacturer and distributor servicing the transport and security sectors in the Peoples Republic of China, under which Yamei has a non-exclusive licence to install SmartTrans software on its GPS units.
Yamei has expressed an intention to progressively install SmartTrans e-Track software across its existing install base and if this were to occur then, based on the agreed monthly fee, the stated number of units in Yamei’s existing install base and the current RMB exchange rate, the agreement would ultimately produce gross revenue for SmartTrans in the order of $7.5m per annum.
Yamei also states that it has a distribution network in excess of 80 distributors operating installation, servicing and sales centres throughout China able to promote and market SmartTrans’ software.
SmartTrans will train and work with Yamei’s key distributors to promote and support the Chinese version of SmartTrans technology suite. Initially, over the first three months, SmartTrans will train 12 key distributors in the following cities:
-
Tianjin (Hebei Province)
-
Changchun (Jilin Province)
-
Jinan (Shandong Province)
-
Shijiazhuang (Hebei Province)
-
Changsha (Hunan Province)
The philosophy of the Project Licence Agreement is for Yamei to provide invehicle GPS hardware and for SmartTrans to provide its software for those units to service the software requirements of customers of both SmartTrans and Yamei in Australia and China
SmartTrans is also in negotiations with two other Chinese companies to gain a further foothold into the Chinese mobile phone market.
