The Board of Leigh Creek Energy Limited (ASX: LCK) (the Company) is pleased to update the market on important progress on the Leigh Creek Energy Project (LCEP).
Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group
Given the recent power shortages in South Australia, the progression of the LCEP Power project becomes more relevant for South Australia, as the LCEP aims to provide baseload power for industrial and mining companies who are dependent on baseload power. We are pleased to be able to inform the market that Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group (SEC), the main business sector of Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited, is undertaking the following work in order to progress the LCEP:
-
SEC will partner with LCK during the demonstration phase of SYNGAS production at Leigh Creek and is evaluating gas quality in order to assist in the selection of the appropriate turbines for power production.
-
In addition to joint technical studies, SEC and LCK are working together to further investigate long term opportunities in the South Australian power market. Discussions will progress with South Australian customers and potential power purchasers.
-
SEC have stated that they intend to engage a third party to complete a study into the viability of the project.
LCK looks forward to SEC joining us through the demonstration phase and the completion of all studies and reports.
