Resumption of Environmental Drilling Program at Leigh Creek Energy Project

Active project development works program is ongoing

South Australian Energy Company, Leigh Creek Energy Limited (ASX: LCK) (Leigh Creek Energy), is pleased to confirm that environmental drilling has resumed at the Company’s in-situ coal gasification project at Leigh Creek, South Australia (see figure 1).

This drilling program is an important step in the development of the Leigh Creek Energy Project (LCEP) which is working towards commercial production of gas.

This drilling program, which is anticipated to be completed in five weeks, is being undertaken for the purposes of environmental groundwater baseline monitoring.

The information garnered from the drill campaign is an essential component of the environmental assessment reports which are central to the State government approval process. That process includes extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders and the local community.

Leigh Creek Energy’s CEO Phil Staveley said: “This drilling program is a key step in advancing the LCEP and is one of a number of project development initiatives we have underway. Leigh Creek’s team is actively advancing the LCEP approvals process and the Company will continue to update shareholders on all of these developments as they eventuate.”
