Multiconsult is the main designer on the road project Fv. 353 Rugtvedt - Surtebogen
Multiconsult (Oslo: MULTI) has been selected as main designer on the road
project fv.353 Rugtvedt – Surtebogen in the Bamble municipality within Vestfold
og Telemark county, Norway. Hæhre Entreprenør AS has been nominated as the
preferred contractor.
The new road will serve as the primary link between Bamble and Skien on the west
side of Frierfjorden, playing a crucial role in both national and regional
transportation within a significant industrial area. The new road is extremely
important because the existing road is old and unsafe, with a high number of
accidents. By enhancing traffic flow and safety, the project aims to contribute
significantly to the improvement of the local neighbourhood environment.
Multiconsult will be responsible for the detailed design, overseeing the
construction of a 3.9-kilometre road that includes five bridges, three culverts,
three road junctions, and a retaining wall, complete with pedestrian and cycle
paths. Additionally, the project incorporates essential geotechnical measures
and upgrades to local and private roads. Notably, a new water supply pipeline
for Bamble municipality is also part of this comprehensive initiative.
Construction is planned to commence in 2023, with completion anticipated by
2026. The total value of the construction contract, including detailed design,
amounts to approximately NOK 400 million.
The end client for this project is Vestfold og Telemark county. The nomination
of the contract is subject to standstill period (NO: karenstid) which expires on
23 October 2023.
