MARKET UPDATE – SECURETOUCH™ RETRACTABLE SAFETY SYRINGE

• Installation of automated packaging complete.

Multivac automated packaging machine

Safety Medical Products Limited (“the Company” or “SafetyMed”) (ASX Code: SFP) is pleased to announce that the installation and commissioning of the new Multivac automated packaging machine (see photos below) is complete.

This machine allows for the high volume packaging of the SecureTouch™ Retractable Syringes into individual blister packs, which is the preferred market configuration globally. The capacity of the Multivac is more than twice the output of the SecureTouch™ Assembly Machine and therefore, it will be capable of handling the future introduction of a second assembly machine.

The Multivac is a significant investment by SafetyMed and was supplied at a cost of $265,000, which was 100% financed by the Company’s bankers.

This equipment will allow the Company to now move into full scale production of the 1ml range of SecureTouch™ Retractable Syringes.

Appointment of Sales and Marketing Manager

SafetyMed is also pleased to announce the appointment this week of a full-time Sales and Marketing Manager, Mr. Chris Harnett.

Chris brings to the Company over 20 years experience in the health and biotech industries with companies including, Jackson Care Technologies, Australasian Medical and Scientific, Novo Nordisk and Bresagen and will drive the promotion and introduction of SafetyMed’s products into the Australian and International Markets.

Trial of 1ml SecureTouch™ Retractable Syringes

SafetyMed is also able to announce that a formal trial of the Company’s 1ml range of SecureTouch™ Retractable Syringes will take place with the assistance of Diabetes SA in late February.

Diabetes SA is the South Australian agent for the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) and has recently received approval from The Department of Health and Ageing to make contact with a target group of insulin syringe users inviting them to participate in the SecureTouch™ trial.

The trial will begin with a training/familiarization session at Diabetes SA headquarters. Use of the SecureTouch™ by participants will then proceed for a period of one month. A follow up meeting with the participants will then take place where discussions and the collection of feedback forms will complete this process.

The year ahead

The Company will continue to provide regular updates to the market regarding its strategies moving forward in 2008 in relation to the launch and scale up of it’s manufacturing and marketing activities both nationally and internationally.

The Company is planning an open day at its Salisbury Facility in late February to showcase the now completed production process for the SecureTouch™ Retractable Syringe.
