After completing his engineering studies at South
Westphalia University of Applied Sciences in
Iserlohn, Germany, in 1993, Mr. Funke began his
career as a manufacturing engineer at LuK
GmbH & Co. KG (now part of the Schaeffler
Group). As he assumed positions of increasing
responsibility, he worked with them in Germany,
U.S. and the U.K. In 2001, Mr. Funke joined
Fresenius Kabi AG., a global healthcare
company specializing in medicines and
technologies for infusion, transfusion and clinical
nutrition. Over his 20 years with Fresenius,
Mr. Funke has managed and led large-scale
technical operations and manufacturing
networks of 27 sites in 19 countries managing
production value of over USD 2 billion and 12,500
employees, including managing the QA/QC,
Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Process
Development and Finance functions. Mr. Funke
has lived and worked most of his professional life
outside of Germany and his last assignment since
2021 has been the Chief Operations Officer of
Strides Pharma Science at Bangalore, India.
