PRIMA BIOMED APPOINTS FORMER SENIOR PFIZER EXECUTIVE TO MANAGE US OPERATIONS
Australian health care company Prima BioMed (Prima) (ASX: PRR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Pfizer’s former Director of Global Medical, Ms Ginny Raymond, to the Company on a full-time basis in the role of Project Manager for Prima’s US operations.
Ms Raymond has more than 20 years experience in clinical drug development with Pfizer, one of the world leading pharmaceutical companies. In that time she was involved in the clinical development of more than 30 different generic compounds and clinical research at Sloan-Kettering.
In her new role with Prima she will be responsible for managing the Company’s growing operations in the US, with a specific focus on overseeing the successful passage of the Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Prima’s CVac™ ovarian cancer therapy vaccine treatment.
Ms Raymond will also assume responsibility for managing CVac™’s upcoming Pivotal Clinical Trial in the US.
The Company is delighted to have secured the services of such a high calibre and experienced pharmaceutical sector executive, to complement its first class medical advisory team.
Prima BioMed executive director Martin Rogers said: “We are delighted to have such a highly credentialed senior pharmaceutical sector executive such as Ginny join the Prima BioMed team, and the Company views her appointment as another strong indicator to the market of our ongoing progress towards commercialising the CVac™ ovarian cancer treatment.”
The Company continues to make rapid progress towards commercialising CVac™ into the global multi-billion oncology pharmacy market. CVac™ is an ovarian cancer therapy vaccine treatment which is administered post-surgery and post-chemotherapy to delay relapse and control metastases. There is a large un-met medical need for new treatments for ovarian cancer which has a very high morbidity rate, and at present there are no maintenance-based therapy products commercially available.
