TRAVELAN[®] DISCOVERED TO AFFECT E. COLI ASSOCIATED WITH EUROPEAN FOOD POISONING

Potential future use in food poisoning outbreaks

26 July 2011: Immuron Limited (ASX: IMC) using in vitro testing has demonstrated that Travelan binds strongly to E. coli O104 surface antigen. This form of E. coli is the sub-type shown to cause the most recent outbreak of food poisoning in Europe.

This finding suggests that Travelan could reduce the risk of infection in those exposed to the European E. coli outbreak strain as it does for other pathogenic varieties of E. coli .

“This result provides an opportunity for Travelan, with its proven safety profile, to be expanded from its current indications,” said Joe Baini, CEO of Immuron.
