The Manager The Company Announcement Office Australian Stock Exchange Sydney NSW
Dear Sir
HIV Phase IIb Human Trials Progress – CORAL Study ASX; IMC; OTCQX: IMROY
We advise that the CORAL trial being conducted in Australia by the internationally recognised National Centre for HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research of the University of New South Wales has recruited 69 of the 71 participants required for the study. This study is being conducted through 21 centres throughout Australia with the results expected by mid 2010.
Immuron is participating in this trial through the use of its BioGuard™ product to investigate its efficacy in helping control the abnormal gastrointestinal inflammation associated HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infections. It is believed that this will slow the progress of the HIV disease either alone or in combination with an anti-retroviral drug.
The CORAL study examines patients with well controlled HIV infections, but poor immune recovery. This trial will measure the efficacy of immune recovery of adding either Bioguard or raltegravir, a new class of anti-HIV drug, (see http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/hiv_and_aids/raltegravir_isentress_1.html).or combinations of both Bioguard and raltegravir to an optimized HIV therapy.
Yours faithfully
