Company Announcement Office Australian Stock Exchange Ltd (ASX) 4th Floor, 20 Bridge Street Sydney NSW 2000
Dear Sir/Madam
Please find herewith a company announcement "Anadis Sucessfully Raises Antibodies against Ricin and Botulism" for release and distribution to the market immediately.
Yours sincerely
CONOR GRAHAM Managing Director & CEO
Ricin and Botulism Antibodies raised by Anadis Ltd for the Australian Department of Defence
Anadis (ASX:ANX) is pleased to announce the preparing of bulk antibodies against Ricin and Botulism for the Department of Defence (DOD) to supply diagnostic reagents to Australian Public Health Network. These antibodies are to be utilised in diagnostic systems. This order is a consequence of the successful work with Anthrax neutralising antibodies performed in conjunction with the Australian Department of Defence (see announcement "Anthrax Lethal Toxin 100% Neutralised by Anadis Antibodies" 5 Dec 2005).
Importantly, this removes the reliance of Australia's relevant authorities on imported reagents, which potentially can become difficult to acquire.
The research basis for this comes from the Anadis Bio-Defence / Respiratory Protection project focused on immediate short term protection against the biowarfare agents Anthrax and Plague in battlefield and emergency response situations. Antibodies being raised for the Public Health Network are against Ricin and Clostridium botulinum A, B, C & D toxins – two other significant bio-terrorism agents.
Success with Ricin Antibody
Results for the first antigen run in this program $-$ Ricin subunit $A$ – the Anadis raised antibodies successfully identified and neutralised the toxin. This opens the potential for Anadis to incorporate a Ricin antibody in its Bio-Defence work.
Anadis CEO and MD Conor Graham, is proud of these developments, particularly being able to assist in Australia's efforts in protecting its population, the reinforcement of progress of this research project, Anadis' ability to deliver end products and the continued developing links between Anadis Limited and the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO).
About Bioterrorism agents Ricin and Botulism
Ricin is a poison which can prevent human cells from making proteins they need, thereby resulting in cell death. This is harmful to the entire body, and potential may lead to death. Ricin is usually made from the waste left over after processing castor beans (for castor oil). It is relatively easy to produce thereby making it an attractive agent for terrorism. Ricin can take the form of a powder, a mist, or a pellet, and can be dissolved in water or weak acid.
For more Ricin information visit: http://www.bt.cdc.gov/agent/ricin/index.asp.
Botulinum toxin is the most lethal substance known to man, is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botulinum toxin is a nerve toxin and the cause of Botulism, a serious paralytic illness, which can be fatal.

Travelan is prepared from bovine colostrum, from cows hyper-immunized against the 13 most common strains of $E.\text{coll}$ – the most common cause of Travelers Diarrhoea, working through the process of passive immunity transfer to the surface of the intestine.

$EV-71$ - a bioactive protein based preventative product against Enterovirus 71, a debilitating polio like disease, is one of the viruses that
causes 'hand, foot and mouth' or 'slapped cheek' disease. A significant proportion of younger children effected can develop nervous signs such as fits, paralysis and Enterovirus 71 has the potentially to be fatal.
A set of Bio-Warfare/Respiratory Protection technologies, a project in conjunction with the Australian Department of Defence and US Bio-Defence Organisations, initially focused on short-term immediate protection from airborne bacteria such as Anthrax and Plague, future civilian applications include Hay Fever and Asthma.
Bio-Shield 10 a range of "bio-shielding" technologies which protect delicate molecules, enzymes and proteins, initially targeted for use in the pro-biotic market.
Development into an Immune Stimulating Infant Formula is underway, initially destined for the Asian market.
Pyloran, which has been clinically proven to reduce levels of bacteria in the stomach and reduce the symptoms of H.pylori associated gastritis - Anadis is also in early development of a H.pylori vaccine.
