ICOP AWARDED CONTRACT FOR THREE MICROTUNNELS

IN GERMANY WORTH OVER 14 MILLION EUROS

Basiliano (Udine), May 12, 2025 – ICOP S.p.A., an underground engineering company and one of Europe's leading operators in the field of special foundations and microtunnelling, announces that it has been awarded the contract for the construction of three microtunnels in Germany, worth 14.4 million euros.

The initiative is part of the national tender commissioned by Terranets bw, "Süddeutsche Erdgasleitung (SEL 3)", a major energy infrastructure project under construction in southern Germany, which involves the construction of a pipeline of approximately 250 km designed to initially transport natural gas and, starting in 2030, also hydrogen, thus supporting the transition to low-carbon energy.

The project will cross Emmertsgrund, a mountainous area between Stuttgart and Frankfurt characterized by particularly steep slopes – up to 43% – which pose significant technical challenges. The three microtunnels, with a diameter of DN 2000, will be between 750 and 1000 meters long and will be constructed simultaneously: parallel management that will require significant know-how to ensure maximum organization and operational coordination.

Excavation work, which will begin in August 2025, will be accompanied by targeted consolidation works of the terrain (grouting), necessary to ensure the stability of the gallery and the safety of operations.

The project further strengthens ICOP's presence in Germany and follows the award, in December 2024, of another major contract worth over 30 million euros in the country for the construction of a microtunnel in the electricity sector, commissioned by TenneT TSO GmbH.
