The Honourable Richard Alston appointed as Director of Hansen Technologies

MELBOURNE, 7 July 2004, Hansen Technologies Limited (ASX:HSN) is pleased to announce the appointment of the recently retired Minister for Communications, IT and the Arts, The Honourable Richard Alston to the Board of the company with effect from 29 July 2004.

In welcoming Mr Alston as a Board member, Mr Ken Hansen, Chairman of Hansen said, "I am delighted Richard has agreed to join our Board. His extensive telecommunications experience will be most valuable around our Board table. Our company is evolving as a significant global player in the Utility Billing market. The push towards de-regulation of Utility markets is escalating and driving This change is creating exciting new opportunities for significant change. Hansen. I am confident that Richard's knowledge and experience will increase our chances of taking maximum advantage of these new opportunities."

Mr Alston stood down as Minister on 7 October 2003 and resigned from the Senate on 10 February 2004.
