Management Update

Bass Metals Ltd (ASX:BSM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Pierre Malherbe as Chief Financial Officer, replacing a contract Financial Controller. Mr Malherbe has also been appointed as co-Company Secretary, with Ms Susan Hunter until 30 April 2013 at which time Ms Hunter will step down as Company Secretary. Combining the roles of Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary is a further step to streamlining the business whilst maintaining input from highly experienced professional skill sets. The Board wishes to record their sincere appreciation to Ms Hunter for her dedicated and professional contribution to the Company’s affairs over the past seven years.

Mr Malherbe's has a strong financial and accounting background. His extensive experience in South Africa and Australia includes 24 years in the Investment Banking, Finance and Mining industries. Working in a senior capacity for several leading financial brands he was responsible for managerial, transactional and financial input across a varied spectrum of businesses, including: mining, construction and aviation. More recently he has held senior management positions within mining and financial industries in Australia where he held the positions of Associate Director, Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary for a number of listed mining companies including Millennium Minerals Ltd, Zambezi Resources Ltd and Minrex Resources NL and the Linq Resources Fund.

Mr Malherbe holds a Master of Business Management (Master of Commerce) postgraduate degree from the University of Johannesburg, an Honours degree majoring in Accounting - Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) (Acc) and a Bachelor of Commerce Investment Management degree from the University of Johannesburg.

The Board of Bass Metals Ltd is pleased to welcome Mr Malherbe to this dual role and looks forward to working with him to re-establish value for shareholders.
