Board Restructure
Polymetallic producer Bass Metals Ltd ( ASX: BSM ) (“Bass” or “the Company”) announces the following planned changes to its Board of Directors; the retirement of Mr Don Boyer as Chairman to be replaced by current non executive director, Mr Craig McGown and the appointment of Chief Operating Officer, Mr Victor Rajasooriar as an executive director of the Company.
Mr Boyer’s planned resignation as non-executive Chairman of Bass Metals is effective from 31 December 2011. He was a founding Director of the Company and has played a key leadership role in identifying, acquiring and developing the Company’s current projects over the past seven years. Mr Boyer said the time was right to make the move. “After 40 years in the mining industry and corporate life I would like time to pursue other interests; but this is a great industry and I certainly intend to stay engaged and to contribute as opportunities arise.”
“With Bass firmly back on track and positioned for a very promising future, after a challenging few months, I am pleased to pass the role onto fellow founding director, Mr Craig McGown. Craig is a highly experienced and capable director with specific resource focussed financial and corporate expertise which will be highly valued as Bass Metals embarks on its next growth phase,” he added.
The Board has also sought to broaden its skill set to underpin future growth with the appointment of Mr Victor Rajasooriar as Operations Director effective from 18 November, 2011. Mr Rajasooriar is a well regarded and experienced mining engineer, who has been the Company’s Chief Operating Officer for the past 12 months. Mr Rajasooriar has over 15 years experience in underground and open pit mining operations across a range of commodities and countries. Prior to joining Bass he was the Mining Operations Manager for Gold Fields Ltd, overseeing the Agnew Operations, having previously held senior management roles with Grange Resources Ltd (in Tasmania), and Newmont Mining Ltd (in Australia and Canada). Mr. Rajasooriar has had extensive experience in Operations and technical management, feasibility studies, mine constructions, mergers and acquisition studies and continuous improvement. He has played an integral role in the development of Bass Metals operations.
Bass Metals’ Managing Director, Mr Mike Rosenstreich thanked Mr Boyer for his contribution and commitment to the Company. “Don has played an invaluable role in the development of Bass Metals from Day 1. On a personal level I am very grateful to Don for his technical insight, his leadership and mentoring guidance over the past seven years. On behalf of all of the team at Bass we wish Don and Ann all the best in what I suspect will be a very busy and active retirement.”
“Victor’s appointment is the first part of a broader strategy to strengthen the Board and recognises his talents and contributions over the past 12 months since joining the Company,” Mr Rosenstreich added.

Bass Metals Ltd is a growth-focused Australian base and precious metal producer with a portfolio of high quality zinc, lead, copper and gold assets in the rich Mt Read Volcanic belt in northwest Tasmania.
Listing in 2005, Bass has delivered operating profits for the past three years since 2008 based on its profitable base metals production hub at Que River in Tasmania.

Bass has off-take contracts for its lead and zinc concentrates with global multi-metals business, Nyrstar, for its copper silver concentrates with LN Metals.
The Company also has an active and successful exploration programme which has yielded new discoveries such as Fossey, Fossey East and McKay as well as new exploration targets through the use of new exploration techniques not applied in the district before. The Company’s has significant gold and polymetallic resources and is currently undertaking a feasibility study following on from positive scoping study outcomes indicating the potential to become a long-term, significant scale gold producer.
Bass has differentiated itself through successfully finding high grade polymetallic resources, strategically and incrementally building up its assets and production profile to now become an emerging mid-tier diversified mining business.
