Goodtech is expanding the power supply for Wacker Chemicals Norway

Wacker Chemicals Norway AS has signed an EPC contract with Goodtech for the technical expansion of the power supply infrastructure of the company’s site in Holla. Securing high voltage power supply for the industry is part of Goodtech's strategic core.The contract value is a high double-digit million NOK sum. The project will start spring 2024 and completion planned towards the end of 2025.

In 2010, the WACKER Group acquired the silicon metal plant in Holla, Norway, which is operated by the company’s subsidiary Wacker Chemicals Norway AS. Metallurgical-grade silicon is one of the group’s most important raw materials and is needed to produce silicones and hyperpure polycrystalline silicon. WACKER is a globally active chemical group headquartered in Munich, Germany. With a wide range of state-of-the-art specialty products, the company is a leader in numerous fields and industries. Its products are required in countless high-growth end-user sectors, such as photovoltaics, electronics, pharmaceuticals and household/personal-care products.

Goodtech will provide all high voltage equipment and infrastructure needed for future power supply increases of the production site. The project allows WACKER to expand the overall production capacity at its plant in Holla long-term. The project involves engineering, procurement and construction of the new power substation, including expansion of the existing control and protection system, together with a new 22kV capacitor bank for stabilizing the power.
